Children's Learning

At Park road Under Fives Pre-School we follow the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) curriculum. The key stages of learning are attained through a combination of adult led and child led activities.

Key Person

Every child has a designated Key Person who acknowledges that each child must be treated as a unique individual. It is the role of the Key Person to guide the child on their Learning Journey. We actively encourage parents to contribute to their child's Learning Journey.

Parents as partners

When parents and practitioners work together in Early Years settings, the results have a positive impact on children’s development and learning (EYFS 2021).

Assessment plays an important part in helping to recognize children’s progress, understanding their needs, and to plan and provide support.

Parents are the most significant person in a young child's life, at Park Road Under Fives we work with parents to support, encourage and reinforce best practice and guiding or advising when parents ask for suggestions of ways of caring and nurturing children.

  • We encourage you to become actively involved in the setting, sharing any skills or interests that may enhance your child’s learning.

  • We provide daily feedback on your child's progress, using specific examples of achievement or behaviour

  • Parent’s comments and opinions about their child's progress are recorded in their child’s learning journey in the form of written comments, photos and achievements from home.

  • Regular newsletters provide ideas to support home learning

  • We explore different strategies to reach a wide range of families to encourage home learning, as we understand all families are unique.

  • We ensure all parents know about our aims and policies including our complaints procedures and are able to contribute to them.

  • Copies of the inspection reports are available for all parents.
